You have time! National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 13
What to get, what to get, what to get your grandparents this Grandparents Day? The overwhelming answer, no matter your age: Your time.
Call them on Grandparents Day to wish them a happy day on their special day!
But, THEN:
- Call them the same day each week, every two weeks, or each month: A real phone call. Set a reminder on your phone – your consistency will make their day!
- Text them about your day: Include photos!
- Send a note/card via snail mail – If you can do this once a year for Grandparents Day you are a champ. If you can do this throughout the year, you are downright awesome. Set a reminder on your phone. Nothing fancy: Just a plain piece of paper or simple card stating 1) you’ve been thinking of them and 2) what you have been up to… that’s it. (This is rough, especially for the younger generation. Tip: They sell stamps at the checkout counter and customer service counter at grocery stores.)
- The best – Initiate time together (if location and COVID precautions/restrictions allow): Take the time to schedule time. Bring them a treat or meal, take them out, invite them over, go for a walk, help them with a project… and do this over and over and over and over.
- Repeat all of the above. Don’t hesitate – you’ll be glad. Your memories of these moments will endure long after your grandparents have left this earth.
